| The Great Polly Pocket Project |

So, Wayward of Insections.com makes Insecticomics. She has rather recently added to the ranks with Polly Pockets, which she kitbashes into various archetypes, including one of herself in her cosplay of Kickback from a convention of yesteryear. She also recently ran an arc where the bugs decided to throw their own con, which they called "InsectiCon," in which the Wayward-as-Kickback Polly popped up.
This, of course, gave myself and raisedbymoogles terrible, terrible ideas.
She came down this weekend with the vaguely-masked intent of going to King's Island. Friday night, we hit Johnny's Toys. We found the correct kind of Polly Pocket- the extremely hard to find ones with elbow and knee articulation- and decided to take a crack at it ourselves.
I kitbashed one into myself as a Scavenger cosplayer. raisedbymoogles made one into a Hot Rod cosplayer. We even made little costume-y bits for them, such as Hot Rod's spoiler and Scavvie's tail, and I made some props, such as a mini costume repair kit, complete with miniaturized duct tape rolls and "markers" that probably could've looked like proper markers if I'd really tried, and a little beaded Matrix.
Photographic evidence:
Hot Rod and Scavenger cosplayers, with Unicron looming in the background. A closer group shot.
Scavenger by herself: Scavvie! She's so cute with her ickle repair kit! Ickle tail! Close-up of the repair kit The repair kit- four rolls of duct tape and some markers. Yes, I know the markers are pathetic. Shut up.
Hot Rod by herself: A long shot to show Unicron looming again. Bitty Matrix! She's so cute. Woohoo! Work that spoiler! Oh, baby, baby! Moogle really likes the red effect on this one. BITTY MATRIX! |

*is speechless*
*shakes head*
*dissolves into gigglefits*
Oh, man - you guys just have way too much fun...*snickers*
LOL, that's cool. I love the rolls of duct tape, especially around her wrist. The matrix is really neat, too. :)
Hee, thanks. The little details are always my favorite. ^_^
You girls have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on your hands.
You know, back in my day, Polly Pockets were centimeter and-a-half affairs that bent at the waist if you were lucky and only stood upright if you placed them in the little holes in the floors of their environments. We didn't have all these new-fangled articulations and outfittin's and what-not!
Yeeeup. -insert rocking chair creaky noise-
*snrk* They still have those. I probably have a couple floating around, too.
I used to have BILLIONS - my dad still finds them wedged under the baseboard sometimes when he does the vacuuming. I used to build houses out of playing cards for them to live in :P
That is beyond awesome. Great job!
We do have lots of fun. ^_^ Also, that's the first project we've actually FINISHED in one weekend in a very long time! ^_^;;;
Considering that most of our projects consist of costumes for us, that's hardly surprising.
I think I just hurt myself laughing! XD
The expressions on the Polly faces and the hair-glitter went some way towards this, admittedly. :)
*grins* What, the vapid smiles and the glitter-strands going 'sproing'?
Yeah, Pollys are hilarious in their own way. I love Pepper's little sproing sparkly strands, myself. Looks like a comet is shooting by in the background, or something. XD
It's the sproing of DESTINY! :D
I heard that while you two were doing this, you'd make Transformer Pockets with your right hand while while writing transformers slash fics with your left.
Then you'd take a potato chip... and EAT IT!
*eyeroll* You're incorrigable. :P
Yes. Yes I am.
...And then I took a potato chip. And ATE IT! | |
